Many times I am asked What is the best way to make money with Amazon Associates?... so I have decided to put my best tips here all in one place.

Amazon is my favorite affiliate program for a variety of reasons: The company is so widely known and trusted that it is so easy to sell their products without much effort. Everyone knows of Amazon and most people have used it. People know they are a reliable company. Amazon's global net revenue in 2014 was 88.99 billion U.S. dollars.

Also it is easy to add links, both text and image to your site and to track how those links are going. Amazon also provides good widgets, such as your own store, that can be integrated into your site. Amazon also has products that would suit almost any niche including weight loss, baby products, gardening, health products and fashion.

I consistently earn money through Amazon Associates and get a 15-20% conversion rate on traffic I send to Amazon.

When you start with the Amazon Associates affiliate program you are earning at a 4% commission and you can earn up to 8%

I've been an Amazon Associate for ... years now and here are my top ten tips to help you improve your earnings.

Focus on Products that are relevant to your niche.

You will see a higher click through rate and higher earnings if the traffic that is coming to your site is looking for the product that you're reviewing

Don't worry about high priced items if they are not irrelevant to your content just get people to Amazon. WHY? Because Amazon's cookie lasts for 24 hours or 30 days if the customer you send adds something to their cart within the 1st 24 hours. You earn a commission on anything they buy within the 24 hours and then the next 30 days. What they buy can be completely unrelated to your niche. If someone clicks through to Amazon on your link you make money on anything they buy.

I often see commissions on products I have not promoted and they are often higher priced products than what I have created links for. Customers trust you when you link to relevant and good products related to your niche.

Embed Links in your Article Text

It is not good enough to slap a button on you sidebar, featuring Amazon, you need to add text links within your articles to specific products. This is what gets the highest click through rate in my case and also this is confirmed by Darren Rowse at ProBlogger who says "every blogger I’ve talked to that has had success with Amazon tells me that contextual links, from within blog posts, work best."  Personally, I have found that giving strong calls to actions work best. For example click here to learn more about keyword over at Amazon.

Use Amazon's Tracking IDs

Amazon allows you to create multiple tracking IDs so use this otherwise you will not know which link is converting people to Amazon. Each article should have it's own tracking ID and this way you can see what works and change what is not working.

Check in at Amazon Accounts Weekly.

Make a date with yourself each week to check into your Amazon Associates Account and see what is making you money and what is not. Change things around if needed.

Use Product Images

People love images and with Amazon associates you can create clickable links to their products in 3 different sizes - I find I get the most clicks with the 'Large' image. If you are looking for an image for your blog posts think of using a product link. This works especially well if you are reviewing products or comparing products.

Write Some Articles to Attract Buyers

When you are writing an article for your site to attract traffic from the search engines think about what people are searching for and what words they put into their search: "buy children's halloween costumes" is more likey to be someone looking to purchase than someone who searches "children's halloween costumes" Here are some suggested words to use in your content to attract buyers.

Add Links to your Popular Posts
When you have some spare time go back through your old poats and find the most popular ones and add an Amazon link within the article if possible. I often link to a magazine (which gets higher commission) or a book that relates to the topic.

Add Links in your Newsletter
Without being spammy you can add a link within your newsletters. I don't do this in every newsletter but about every third one. If I can't think of a good product that relates to my topic I will add a WHAT I AM CURRENTLY READING link. Once again many people will click over and the cookie lasts 24 hours on anything they purchase.

Work the Seasons and the Sales

Plan your year around the special days when people want to buy gifts - Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day, Black Friday. Many people shop online due to the convenience and really trust Amazon. I try to have articles up relating to these days 3 to 4 weeks before the event.
People also love sales and Amazon often has sales and sale banners around these times. If you are linking in the text of your article say something like 'click here to get your 25% discount on  '
